Green Day Songs History
Good Riddance Good Riddance was written by lead singer Billy Joe Armstrong in 1994 after the breakup with his girlfriend. She was heading back to Ecuador. The song became an International hit, but wasn't released until 1997, three years after it was written.
Boulevard Of Broken Dreams This was their 2nd single from the American Idiot album and reached #2 in the US. Noel Gallager of Oasis accused Green Day of stealing their song Wonderwall and creating this song.
Wake Me Up When Sept Ends This song was released in Jun of 05 from the American Idiot album and reached #6 on the charts in the US. Billy Joe wrote this song about his father, who was a jazz musician who died of cancer when Billy Joe was only 10.
Green Day Facts
Green Day formed in 1987 and consisted of Billie Joe Armstrong – vocals, guitar(1987–present), Mike Dirnt - bass guitar, vocals (1987-present) and Tré Cool – drums, percussion, vocals (1990–present).
The band released their first album in 1994 and are known for their California Punk sound.
Since the band members all enjoyed using marijuana, the name for the band, Green Day, came from this fondness with the drug.
Green Day had 3 #1 hits with their first major album release entitled Dookie, which only took 3 weeks to record the entire album.
